Code of Ethics for Responsible Use of Contact Roster
As Latina leaders entrusted with a roster of over 1,700 contacts within the alumnae group, we are committed to ensuring the responsible and ethical use of this valuable resource. Recognizing the sensitivity of personal information, we pledge to adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Responsible Use of Contact Information:
- We recognize the roster's confidential nature and commit to using it exclusively for legitimate purposes related to the alumnae group's activities, initiatives, and community-building efforts, and never for personal gain, marketing, or other individualized benefit.
- We strictly prohibit the misuse of contact information for marketing, solicitation, scams, or any other unauthorized purposes that may compromise the privacy and trust of our alumnae.
2. No Unauthorized Sharing:
- We strictly prohibit the unauthorized sharing of the contact roster with external parties, ensuring that alumnae information remains confidential and within the organization's control.
3. Opt-Out Option:
- We respect the autonomy of each member and provide a clear and accessible opt-out option for those who wish to be excluded from the Roster.
- All requests to opt-out will be promptly and diligently honored.
4. Immediate Cease of Contact Upon Request:
- If a member requests not to be contacted, we commit to immediately ceasing any communication with them.
- All requests to discontinue contact will be honored without question.
5. Educating Members on Privacy Rights:
- We actively educate alumnae members about their privacy rights, how their information will be used, and the measures in place to safeguard their data.
6. Reporting Misuse:
- We encourage members to report any suspected misuse or unauthorized access of their contact information promptly via email at latinas@latinas.org.
- Investigations into reported incidents will be conducted with the utmost diligence.
By adhering to this code, we seek to maintain the trust and privacy of our alumnae community. We understand the importance of responsible data handling and are dedicated to fostering an environment where all members feel secure and respected.
Any violations of the Code of Ethics will result in remediation up to and including revoking your membership in HLI.
